The aim of the study is to improve the capabilities of Lidars and prove the improvements by field experiments. Continuous-wave Lidar is one kind of coherent Doppler Wind Lidar as the light is continuously transmitted to the atmosphere and can be made cheap and robust. The problems are that the measurement volume is quite large for long measurement distances and the focus point is further away as the wind turbines become larger and larger. These hinder the Lidar in measuring turbulence and it also makes the Lidar susceptible to moving objects far away from the intended measurement point. New optical components make it possible to make the measurement volume more compact.
