University and Institute:
Technical University of Denmark (DTU)
Start date:
1st March 2020
Background:
I come from Italy and I was born in Rome, where I had been living until I turned 23, when I decided to move to Stockholm in order to join a Master's program in Sustainable Energy Engineering. That was after I graduated as a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering at Sapienza university of Rome.
During my Bachelor’s studies I focused on basic sciences like physics and mathematics, as well as several fields of mechanics sciences: fluid, solid and applied mechanics. Then, during my master’s studies, I got passionate about wind energy, as it was the perfect field to combine my passions as a mechanical engineer with my interest for sustainability.
Motivation:
After my Master’s, I aimed to remain in the wind energy field and I considered the chance of doing a PhD as a very good choice. Thus, I was captured by this PhD project, which gives me the chance to further characterize the effects related to clustering of wind turbines, which is a topic that highly interests me and I regard as crucial for the improvement of wind energy. Moreover, I get motivated and excited by the idea of getting more and more confident with Doppler Lidars, which I think have the potential to replace the currently used measuring technologies to a great extent.
